Finding Your True Purpose

Child praying causes miraclesThere is a saying that says, ‘Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, but teach him to fish and he will feed himself and his family for Life’.

Today many people are looking for their purpose in life and are engaged in trivial and temporary activities as they try one thing and another without finding lasting peace, happiness or fulfilment. In one sense whatever you believe it to be and that whatever is in front of you in the present moment is your purpose. In time however your real or true purpose will reveal itself as it becomes obvious and self evident. This is the way of the unfolding mind, the soul’s purpose and the maturing of humanity.

It’s rather like a child growing up and giving up childish things as it outgrows its toys, it happens naturally and in the right time, space and sequence and this is determined by the individual himself.

There is an individual curriculum for every human soul to awaken to his true self when the time is ripe, it cannot be forced just as a flower can only grow according to its own nature , the same is true for a human soul also.

So what is it that he awakens too? He eventually awakens to the realization of his ‘True Self’ which is apart from who he ‘thought ‘ and ‘believed’ he was, for example in this life he thinks he is a body that grows, becomes a man or woman, engages in all the activities that he is taught such as going to work, paying for necessities, becoming a parent, contributing to society, church, country, paying taxes and playing all the other roles that are expected of him or her, otherwise he may be deemed a failure as this world defines it.

However his true self is not of this world, his true self has desires and interests beyond these temporary, limiting self concepts and beliefs of this world. His true self is interested in his eternal nature and reality. His true self wants to know itself as part of God, as Spirit and what it means to live and express itself as a divine spirit being in a physical world, and that is something very different from what he has been taught by this world.

The true self wants to fulfil its divine plan for itself, the world and as God conceived of for him. This is the work that never ends and in Gods Kingdom there is no unemployment. The Bible says ‘seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all else will be added unto you’, this means that when you put God and Spirit first as a way of life everything else will be taken care of.                                                                                                                                                                                                   Practice this every day and you will find that your purpose is taken care of and you will naturally contribute to the world, your community, friends and family, you will unfold the gifts and qualities of the spirit, you become the change you want to see in the world and your life naturally becomes peaceful, happy, harmonious, joyful and fulfilling, because then you become a ‘blessing’ to the world by your presence.

In Spiritualism we have an advantage because we have the opportunity to learn how to communicate with the spirit world and give evidence that life continues after the transition called death, we can also use that same ability to listen and receive inner guidance from spirit guides, masters, and angels etc.

As we commit ourselves consistently to the practice of putting God and spirit first and following our inner guidance everything starts to be taken care of in the best possible way for everyone; Perceived problems become  resolved and you go through a process of transformation and awakening, (this can also be likened to the ascension process), your confidence in spirit and yourself grows and you see the world in a new light,  you start to remember  who you really are, your true relationship with God and your Oneness with your fellow man is transformed as you see him for who he really is, this is what it means in the 7 principles as the,  Father Hood of God,  the Brother Hood of man and accepting Personal Responsibility for this is how you find, discover and live your True Purpose.
